The Glorious Promise of Springtime

Winter can be a time to sit and be still before the LORD while spring is a time to be awakened to the things He has been working on during the dark days of winter. The birds begin their beautiful songs, lifting their melodious tunes to the heavens as if to say to our Heavenly Father, “We know You are ready to begin a new season; we are excited to see what You are going to do!” The bulbs we planted last year have been resting and are now ready to begin their growth. We can’t see the growth of their root system because it is underground but soon those little plants will begin to push up through the soil and even through snow in some areas. And then, those beautiful flowers will begin to emerge. First, tightly closed and then, slowly, stretching to the sun’s radiant light, begin to open up to the beautiful array of colors that our Heavenly Father has created. I have begun to plant my seeds indoors in preparation for my garden. After only four days I began to see the first signs of life pushing up from the soil, the first two leaves and then the next two leaves. Oh the glorious miracle of God’s creation! Creating more and more from these first seeds that He spoke into existence to bless us. “And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:12  And now, year after year, He reminds us, through spring, how He creates, sustains and provides new life continually for us. As we spend time with God in His word, He places His Word, His seeds in the soil of our hearts. He nourishes them and fertilizes them with His love and promises. As Jesus continues to pour His living water in our heart, those seeds take root and imbed deep into the moist soil of our hearts. Then, when our Heavenly Father brings us through the different seasons of our lives, He uses these to carry us through the difficulties of our lives, to remind us that He is always working beauty in our lives in the harsh seasons that He allows to be a part of our lives. He sustains us through the droughts of our lives and lifts us up in the beauty of the life He has created by His Word in our hearts. The most beautiful harvests are created from the most difficult seasons. May you find encouragement today as we move from our doormat and dark winter season into our springtime that holds the promise of new life. May you be reminded of God’s hand in your life as the birds begin to sing, as buds appear on the trees and bushes and as those little flowers begin to push up from the ground. This is the desire of our Heavenly Father for you: to put a new song of praise in your heart, to push deeper into your heart the roots of God’s truths, to bring new growth in your heart as you spend time in His Word, and for the beautiful blossoms He has been preparing in the soil of your heart to open in full bloom to refresh and bring joy to your weary heart and for you to share the fragrance of our Lord Jesus with all those who the Lord will bring into your path.  Grace to you and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, Kathleen

Isaiah 61:11“For as the earth brings forth its bud, as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.”

There shall be showers of blessing,
 this is the promise of love;
 there shall be seasons refreshing,
 sent from the Savior above. Showers of blessing, showers of blessing we need, mercy-drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead. There shall be showers of blessing,
 if we but trust and obey;
there shall be seasons refreshing,
if we let God have His way.” (from song: “There Shall Be Showers of Blessing” by Daniel W. Whittle)
