Our Mountains and Valleys

Through our day, He desires to bless us, to use us and to grow us more into the image of Jesus Christ. In our day, as we experience His blessings, some will be glorious mountain top moments where the LORD will do wonderful and great things, where He will work details of our lives in such loving and gracious ways. As we watch and see His hand guide us and provide for us beyond our own hopes and desires, we are lifted into a place of incredible praise to our Heavenly Father. As we bask in His presence from the wonderful things He has done for us, we are getting a glimpse of what heaven will be like. All is perfect and peaceful being in His will and His blessings and His presence. It is in these times, however, that we must not take our eyes off of the LORD for this is when our enemy comes to try and take us down. Elijah experienced this as the LORD brought victory over the Baal Prophet’s attempts to offer a sacrifice. Elijah was rejoicing in the heavenly work of our Almighty God in showing Himself powerfully to Elijah in front of these prophets but then he took his eyes off of the LORD and a woman caused him to cower in fear and run for his life. May we never take our eyes off of our LORD whether we are experiencing those mountain top moments with God or when we are in our valleys. He has not taken His eyes off of us. He is waiting for us to come once again to Him. He wants to provide for us in our weakness as He did for Elijah with refreshing food and encouragement from the angel of the LORD. The LORD called Him to stand on the mountain before Him, revealing Himself not in the strong wind nor the earthquake or even the fire but our Heavenly Father met Him through His still small voice. This is our God, providing for our every need, meeting us in the places we are most vulnerable and lifting us up by His love and grace. May you be blessed in your day as you trust in our faithful God as He is with you on your mountains and in your valleys. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, Kathleen

Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:11-12
